Home Boarding & Home Day Care with MyWaggyTails services

MyWaggyTails Chinnor is licensed by our local authority, SODC to provide dog boarding and day care services – our licence number is: 20174

(Being licensed to provide boarding and day care services is a legal requirement and it is a criminal offence to provide such services and not to have a licence.)

We have £5m public liability insurance and a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate (formerly a CRB) check.

We are trained in Canine First Aid with Ofqual certificates in Dog Boarding & Day Care.

You’re very welcome to ask to see any of these related documents at any time.

How we operate and key considerations

In order for your dog to stay with us, and as a SODC licensing condition your dog(s) must be:

  • Medically and behaviourally suitable
  • Up to date with its vaccinations (Leptospirosis, Adenovirus, Parvovirus and Canine Distemper) – typically appears as ‘DPH’ and ‘L2/L4’ or ‘Lepto 2/Lepto 4’ on your pet’s vaccination certificate.
  • A current Kennel Cough vaccination (lasts 1 year) – typically appears as ‘KC’ on your pet’s certificate, and receiving a current vet issued flea, tick and worming treatment
  • Well socialised with other dogs and humans
  • Able to get on with my own dogs
  • Fully house trained
  • Microchipped and with the microchip registered to your current home address
  • Wearing an ID tag on either your dog’s collar or harness
  • Have good recall and be able to walk off-lead. An initial bonding, familiarisation and on-lead trial will take place before free-running is permitted.

You will also need to provide fully up-to date medical and behavioural information about your pet.

  • A ‘meet and greet’ will be provided for dogs and owners prior to boarding or day care services.
  • An overnight or day trial subject to your required service must be completed well in advance and before your booking is confirmed to ensure the comfort of your pet, your peace of mind as well as that of your pet carer.
  • As the pet owner you will be required to provide your full name, address, telephone number and emergency contact details prior to using our services.
  • As the pet owner you will be required to review and accept our Terms & Conditions and pet consent forms, and any relevant paperwork including providing updates or changes regarding your pet’s health and/or behaviour prior to your pet’s stay.
  • Please be advised that any requested dates are only provisional until the required booking fee has been received by us.
  • For clarity, pre-payment in full is required for all services.
  • All dogs will be familiarised and introduced prior to boarding
  • A trial walk, and/or a ‘meet and greet’ needs to be completed prior to a full-service trial.
  • No in season dogs are accepted. Any dog coming into season whilst staying with us needs to be removed by your emergency contact within two hours of being notified by us or we will be required to place your dog into kennels at your additional expense. For the avoidance of doubt, the fees for the complete booked period are still payable in full and no refund will arise in such circumstances.
  • Any dog biting or displaying aggression to me, my family, a member of the public, or any other dog is not accepted. The pet owner or emergency contact of any dog behaving in an inappropriate manner whilst staying with us will be contacted and asked to remove their pet within two hours of being notified or your dog will be placed into kennels at your additional expense. For the avoidance of doubt, no refund will arise in such circumstances.
  • You may be liable for costs arising for any damage or breakages to any contents of our property directly caused by your pet’s stay. As our family home we require it to be treated with respect.
  • Exercise and enrichment – typically this takes place across open countryside and woodland – all within a small walk or ride of my home. I have a large garden for play and enrichment. Exercise and enrichment requirements are discussed and planned with each owner to ensure your pet receives the best quality experience whilst in our care.

 Planning

  • Drop offs take place by arrangement between 7.45am and 8.30am or 12.30-2.30pm.
  • A dog may be collected by arrangement between 7.45am and 8.30am, 12.30-2.30pm or 5.30-6.15pm
  • A pet owner using our service is required to provide suitable, clean – flea free bedding, feed and details, toys, chews, walking equipment ie collar, tags, harness and lead, and any required medication.
  • The Pet Owner is required to provide written details of any exercise restrictions for your pet prior to their stay.
  • Dogs unable to be walked for age or medical reasons will receive enrichment and human interaction in our home setting.
  • Our own ID tags will also be provided to each guest dog with our contact details as an added safety tool.

Dog Walking

Every-day amazing dog walking experiences, Chinnor
Group walks for happy dogs

If you are looking for dog walking services in Chinnor, Princes Risborough, Thame and the surrounding villages of Aston Rowant, Bledlow, Bledlow Ridge, Chearsley, Chilton, Christmas Common, Crowell, Emmington, Haddenham, Henton, Ickford, Kingsey, Kingston Blount, Kingston Stert, Lewknor, Monks Risborough, Long Crendon, Longwick, Radnage, Scotsgrove, Shabbington, Stokenchurch, Sydenham, Towersey and Watlington, availability permitting, we’re very happy to help.

MyWaggyTails Chinnor provides one-hour group walks in local beauty spots and parks that your dog will love.

My (business) insured vehicle carries a pet first aid kit, water, bowls and even towels for those wet days. Naturally, we are fully insured, and dog first aid trained.

We offer a mixed blend of walks that includes training, play and sensory experiences. Group walks have multiple benefits: helping with socialisation, instilling good behaviour and increasing exercise.

Where 1-2-1 walks or shorter walks are required, by prior arrangement, we provide those too.

Your dog can be walked on or off leash, subject to your consent, the environment that day, your pet’s recall and group dynamics. Every dog wears a MyWaggyTails identity tag in addition to their own. We regret that we can only accept dogs that are microchipped. For ‘escapologist’ dogs, dogs with poor recall, where they are pre-notified in our Pet Information Form, we also have a small number of GPS tracking collars as a fall back.

At MyWaggyTails we structure our day and our walks to reflect the profile of the dogs in our care, and to ensure the right group dynamics and experiences for your pet.

We adhere to industry best practice for professional dog walkers as set out by the RSPCA and Dogs Trust.

Please ask to see copies of our certificates and documentation.

Specialist Dog Walks, Chinnor
Puppy/Older/Poorly/Solo Walks

Do you have a puppy who is still too young to join group walks? As a rough guide, a 5-minute walk for every month old is a useful reference. If you work during the day we can visit and ensure your puppy, poorly, post-operative doggy, or senior canine gets a toilet break, feeding, some sensory and brain games, play and some TLC.

If you have a dog who thinks ‘two or more is a crowd’, we can do solo walks, and where shorter walks are the order of the day because youth or aching limbs dictate, again, we have certain walks specifically dedicated for such profiles.

Adventure Hikes, Chinnor
Dog walks with a difference

For doggies with more stamina, we offer adventure hikes. Our outings allow your fur-baby to socialise and relish being part of its regular pack. And while having fun and burning off tons of energy. Whilst out and about we practice basic obedience through voice control.

Adventures Unleashed – Our off-leash adventures last around 3-3.5 hours, during which your pup will enjoy about 2 hours of fun exercise in some of Oxon/Bucks’s best dog-friendly off-leash spots. Your doggy will socialise and play to their heart’s delight – so you’ll come home to a satisfied and happy dog. Every single time.

Leashed Adventures – This wholesome 2.5-hour leashed hike includes pick-up and drop-off and will stimulate your dog for around 3.5 hours in total. It’s a great option for older or movement-restricted dogs, as it represents a safe, low-impact and high-stimulation exercise. Hiking distance is usually around 7 miles.

(Subject to environment, circumstances and dog recall/training)

Pet Home Care

Home Pet Care, Chinnor

Our ‘Pet Nanny’ (me!) will pop into your home as often as you require, throughout the day.   I will ensure your pets are cared for and if required, feed them too.  This can be a great stress-free alternative to a cattery or other boarding options.

My Home Visits provide in-home pet care for a wide range of pets from dogs and cats to hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and fish.

Home visits are ideal for puppies, post-op, and older dogs too.

While focused on your pet, a home visit can include in-home domestics, such as watering plants, taking in post, turning on lights and closing curtains.  All designed to keep your home safe and secure too.

Puppy Visits, Chinnor

Wait… you have a puppy? How exciting! Is your puppy still too young to join group walks? Even puppy-only walks? If you work during the day we can visit and ensure your puppy gets a toilet break, feeding and some engaging company.

About MyWaggyTails Chinnor

Mitch Howey
Partner, MyWaggyTails Chinnor

Meet Mitch

Hello and welcome to MyWaggyTails Chinnor.

Juggling childcare for a young son around a three-hour round-trip commute to London and a husband who regularly works away – blame the music industry, left me keen to find a job that offered more flexibility around my busy family life.

With a love for the outdoors, gorgeous Oxfordshire countryside on my doorstep and dogs of my own, the topic of pet care came up in a family brainstorm on possible new careers. Regularly helping out with pet care for friends and family dogs, the suggestion struck a chord, and some 3+ years ago I launched my own dog walking, day care and home boarding business MyWaggyTails.

Having previously held busy and involved roles in advertising and film in London, I thought that the administration involved in setting up and running my pet care business would be a “walk in the park” but I quickly found that wasn’t the case. Setting up a pet care business is not simply about adding a few extra paws to your walks and home. You are looking after someone’s love of their life and to be a safe and compliant pet care business, there’s heaps of red tape to cut through plus you also need to get to grips with the day to day operations such as licensing compliance, booking systems, pure logistics not to mention marketing. Mastering it all on your own first time and quickly, is unrealistic and it can get really over-whelming.

Fast-forward 18 months and I was begging my brother to stop promoting the business as I couldn’t cope with the demand which even to this day is hugely frustrating when I have to let people down turning people and pets away.

As an ardent dog lover, I love my four-legged ‘work colleagues’. Creating a home from home experience, every furry visitor is immersed in my home life with all members of the family having interaction with the pets. Structured walks, regular nap times and a part of the family experience also enables me to fit 100 lengths of the local pool at 6am and a quick Costa ‘on the way home to work’ into my daily routine and is my little bit of sanity and a huge perk of the job before the pandering to our pooches.

I know our dog owner customers love the home from home approach too. I always set out to provide a service I’d want to use for my own dogs. For me, that would be see them enjoy their normal routine be it chasing a ball in the park or napping on the sofa. I regularly send customers photos of their pets, which really brightens their day. You can’t fake these moments – a dog will vote with their paws if they are not happy.

Reliability is also a huge part of the job, so even when the weather is rubbish, the walks must go on. And if the thought of extra pet hair, muddy paws and the occasional toilet accident in your home, breaks you out into a sweat, then home-boarding is probably not the best choice for you!

I should add that my family help make MyWaggyTails something we’re very proud of – so a big shout out to my husband Phil, son Charlie, mother Pamela, and Sue our ‘Girl Friday…Thursday…Wednesday…

Our regular customers, both 4 and 2-legged have made the last few years an absolute joy. Our local authority’s five-star rating and most importantly an abundance of hugely appreciated 5-star customer reviews on Google, Facebook and Yell have made me very thankful.
